At least two people have died and two survived Wednesday after a helicopter working to extinguish a fire on the Greek island of Samos crashed.
The pilot of the aircraft and another crew member were rescued alive by the Coast Guard after falling into the sea, as reported by the Greek newspaper ‘Ethnos’.
The helicopter went down in the maritime area of Samos near the beach of Agia Marina at about 17.55 hours (local time).
At the moment it is not clear what caused the accident.
The aircraft had been leased by the government to fight forest fires, according to the fire department.
